POHONKU, RIWAYATMU KINI TUMBANG

Sudah banyak cara untuk menjaga sistim ekologis bumi tetap terjaga, salah satunya adalah kampanye go green earth, atau kampanye mari menanam pohon semilyar, yang jatuh pada tgl 21 November, berperan untuk menumbuhkan satu tunas pohon untuk masa depan bumi yang lebih baik dan berbagai program hijau yang kadang menimbulkan sebuah ironi yang tragis.

Program pembangunan lingkungan yang dilaksanakan saat ini, harus diorientasikan kepada upaya pelestarian taman hutan dan taman lingkungan hidup di perkotaan dan desa urban untuk mampu menunjang pembangunan, melalui gerakan penanaman pohon setiap tahun. Yang hasilnya cukup signifikan untuk mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan dan pemanasan global.

Namun untuk perawatannya, berbanding terbalik. Dengan banyaknya pohon dihancurkan, dibiarkan merana hingga pohon itu menjadi “berbicara” dengan menelan korban dan harta benda bagi manusia itu sendiri. Buktinya, lihatlah berita-berita di surat kabar di kota Anda atau mungkin anda sudah mengalaminya seperti penulis alami nyaris bikin copot jantung ketika melintas di sepanjang jalan terpanjang di Medan, jalan Sisingamangaraja menuju ke Tanjung Morawa ketika Medan di guyur hujan deras dan angin kencang menyebar maut. Pohon-pohon tanpa akar kuat nyaris menghantam kendaraan yang lewat.

BAGAI TUBUH MANUSIA

Pohon seharusnya berfungsi sebagai pelindung dari panas ternyata kini sebagai pembawa “maut”, banyak pohon kini telah mengalami malapetaka akibat tumbang karena faktor “usia lanjut”. Namun pohon seperti manusia bisa “tumbang” karena faktor kekuatan fisik yang semakin lemah karena di makan usia tua. Pohon-pohon yang ada dibeberapa kota besar di Indonesia seperti Jakarta, Medan, Makassar, Semarang, Bandung dan juga Bekasi telah meminta upeti korban, baik dalam bentuk harta berupa hancurnya sebuah mobil ketika lewat atau parkir, rumah mengalami korlesting listrik dan terbakar maupun jiwa raga karena korban mengalami “nasib tak beruntung” ketika melintas dengan kendaraan atau tertimpa pohon yang tumbang akibat hujan deras dan angin kencang. Tumbang dulu memakan korban baru menjadi pusat perhatian untuk perawatan, dan itulah yang terjadi dan menjadi cerita tragis di tanah bencana seperti di kota-kota besar di Indonesia.

Pohon bisa tumbang karena banyak faktor, jika diibaratkan pohon itu seperti tubuh manusia, yang mengalami degradasi fisik karena kehausan, karena tidak adanya air, kurang oksigen karena sumpet. Pohon seperti tubuh kita, jika mengalami penyumbatan akar oleh “arsitektur keramik” made in manusia maka pohon itu juga ikut merasakan ketidakadaan penyuplai “vitamin” bagi akarnya untuk menyimpan air sebagai “tenaga udara hidup”, maka akar pohon kadang mampu membelah dan membentuk undukan dipermukaan aspal jalanan seperti yang penulis lihat sepanjang jalan kota di Kampung Baru, terus ke Padang Bulan hingga lewat Kampus USU, akan terlihat akar dan kadang badan jalan itu telah membentuk kubangan kecil yang dapat membahayakan pengendaraan lalu lintas, jangan menganggap remeh lubang kecil ini, kadang kecil dapat membawa maut bagi manusia. Dan harus sudah menjadi perhatian dari instansi terkait.

BIOPORI TERSUMBAT

Ketersumbatan akar dibawah aspal atau semenisasi ruas-ruas koridor jalan yang menjadi taman kota tanpa sistim biopori dapat mempercepat kerusakan dan kerapuhan batang tubuh pohon menjadi layu lalu rapuh, patah dan tumbang. Dapat menyebabkan terjadi proses hidrogeologis air menjadi pelumas material tanah menjadi sebuah gerakan a-seismik bagi model gerakan tanah longsoran kecil untuk melemahkan pondasi kesatuan antar akar, terjadinya pengosongan sekitar tubuh pohon lalu ketika hujan deras datang maka ruang rongga (kosong) di tubuh bawah pohon menjadi “lunak” lalu air itu mudah “lulus”, mempercepat laju air kepermukaan yang menyebabkan banjir dan akar pohon tidak mampu menyerap lagi air ke dalam tubuhnya, mendapat tekanan frontal di bawah tanah dan diatas permukaan oleh angin, maka pohon itu menunggu waktu untuk menjadi tumbang.

Untuk mengetahui gejala pohon tumbang, masyarakat bisa memperhatikan kondisi fisik batang pohon yang tertanam di koridor jalan antara lain : terjadinya pembengkahan aspal menjadi terbelah, dinding taman koridor jalan banyak mengalami peretakan selain memang kualitas pembuatan sudah jelek, karena pohon tidak ditanam mendalam, banyak ditemukan pengikatan tali-tali dan kawat ketat serta paku-paku “iklan” pedagang dan  tertusuk “Spanduk Jual Janji Caleg” ketika musim kampanye pilkada tiba, banyak tukang tempel ban membakar dibawah pohon, dapat mempercepat pohon tumbang akibat ketatnya dan tersumbat “urat nadi” pohon akibat gangguan tangan manusia, tidak ada biopori khusus untuk saluran air ke akar pohon, banyak pohon sudah berusia lanjut sejak zaman Belanda dan tidak terawat teratur, belum pernah diregenerasi secara menyeluruh.

Yang utama dari semua kondisi penyebab pohon tumbang adalah kurang perawatan, pembiaran terhadap “kesakitan” tubuh pohon pada hari tertentu. Lucunya sekaligus ironis bagi pohon, si pohon itu juga ada merayakan hari raya tertentu untuk mereka sebagai renungan bagi manusia, malah sering tertusuk benda tajam iklan kampanye hari hijau, apa tidak tahu atau pura-pura tidak tahu kalau tindakan tersebut merusak tubuh dan keindahan pohon? Kasus ini di banyak terlihat di jalan-jalan di semua kota di Indonesia.

POHONKU

Pada zaman Belanda dulu, riwayat menanam pohon disesuaikan dengan kondisi fisik tanah agar pohon-pohon yang ditanam dapat tumbuh dan berkembang sehat serta kuat pengakarannya dan bentuk tanah dan topografi juga disesuaikan guna menyerap air lebih cepat dan menjaga keseimbangan struktur lapisan tanah dengan akar jenis tanaman pohon yang ditanam, tidak asal sembarangan jenis pohon yang akan ditanam.

Bagi daerah yang panas menyengat dapat ditanam jenis pohon yang rindang namun tidak besar, akar pohon tidak cepat menyembul kepermukaan tanah, menyerap hawa panas, begitu juga tanam pohon di daerah sekitar rawa dan sempadan sungai maupun koridor jalan, antisipasi utama adalah bagaimana agar akar pohon itu mendapat suplai oksigen (air) jika ada semenisasi disuatu saat nanti, perlu diberikan ruang khusus berupa lubang-lubang seperi biopori.

Semua manusia tahu, bahwa pohon merupakan salah satu investasi bagi manusia untuk pelestarian air, kehidupan rantai makanan, mencegah pemanasan global dan perlu tindakan nyata untuk memahami tubuh pohon agar tidak dilakukan tindakan anarkis seperti tersebut diatas, di paku, di ikat ketat dengan kawat besi, di bakar pelan-pelan tempel ban masak, memasang slogan spanduk dan tidak bebas dari model rabat beton sehingga suplai oksigen pohon tersumbat serta akan membahayakan pohon dan manusia itu sendiri.

Karena itu, kita perlu memahami dulu beberapa fakta tentang jiwa pohon bagi kehidupan di bumi antara lain : Pertama, konstribusi bahan baku, pohon menghasilkan pekerjaan dan memberikan konstribusi bahan baku untuk bangunan, surat kabar, buku dan lebih dari 15.000 produk hutan lainnnya. Pohon juga dapat diperbaharui, dapat terurai secara biologi dan dapat didaur ulang. Kayu pohon dapat diolah lebih lanjut untuk menjadi produk olahan seperti vitamin, plastik, film fotografi, pasta gigi dan obat-obatan. Jadi kita harus menjaga regenerasinya dengan tidak mengganggu pertumbuhannya.

Kedua, investasi propertis rumah, jika anda menanam tiga atau lebih pohon di tempat yang tepat disekitar bangunan rumah dapat menghemat biaya AC sampai 50 persen. Pohon meningkatkan nilai properti rumah yang dikelilingi oleh pohon bisa terjual 18-25 persen lebih tinggi dari rumah tanpa pohon. Pohon sebanyak itu akan menghapuskan 10 juta ton CO₂.  Dan dalam satu masa hidupnya sebuah pohon besar dapat menyerap 1 ton karbon dioksida. Keempat, fungsi akar, setelah dewasa, pohon akan lebih banyak tumbuh ke bawah, bukan ke atas. Akarnya lah yang akan semakin menjalar untuk mencari ruang-ruang oksigen dan menyerap air. Jadi, seperti itulah yang terjadi kenapa beberapa pohon tumbang di beberapa kota di Indonesia.
